Company History
Massman Automation Designs, LLC began in the garage of Burl Massman in 1978 in Villard, Minnesota as Massman Automation Designs, Inc. Burl had experience in the corrugated industry, along with excellent machine design ability. He started by designing and building case erectors and sealers. Business grew into the 80’s as customers came to appreciate Massman machine dependability and service. A new facility was needed and was built at the current plant location at 1010 E. Lake Street in the mid 80’s. The product line grew and expanded into Case Packers, Tray Packers, Palletizers and turn-key end of line automated packging systems. The original plant having been expanded in size three times, with additional outbuildings, the Massman plant now makes efficient use of over 41,500 square feet.
The business became Massman Automation Designs, LLC in 2005 when Burl Massman retired, selling the business to Jeff Bigger, former VP of Douglas Machine and former President of Brenton Engineering. The Massman foundation stones of dependability and service are maintained through this smooth transition and business is booming with continued satisfied customers, PMMI membership, certified PMMI trainers and expanded sales staff. Massman looks into the future with much anticipation and a determination to continue to provide dependable, cost-effective packaging machinery to many more satisfied customers on a global scale.
